About Heath

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Heath is a sweet and friendly, playful boy who loves to snuggle and shower you with kisses. He's already learned how to sit and shake, and while everything on walks is very exciting to him, this enthusiasm can make him pull on the leash—a harness may be best for those adventures! Heath’s social skills with other dogs are still developing, so introducing him to new canine friends slowly is recommended to help him feel comfortable. While he thrives in calmer situations, Heath may feel overwhelmed around young, noisy, or busy children, so a more mature, quieter home would be ideal for him. After arriving at the shelter with heartworms, Heath received thorough treatment and will be due for a complimentary recheck in April 2026; he’ll need to stay relatively calm until then for his health. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is happy to provide more information about his care and his 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you the opportunity to see if he’s the perfect fit for your life. Heath is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all appropriate vaccinations. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
