Meet Waylon - your new best friend in the making. Waylon is a sweet, lovable pup with a gentle heart and a curious spirit. He's the kind of dog who watches the world with bright, hopeful eyes and is always ready to make a new friend-human or canine. Whether he's out exploring on a walk or settling in for some well-earned cuddle time, Waylon brings an easy, happy energy wherever he goes. Waylon would do great in a home that can give him love, consistency, and a little room to keep learning and growing. He's eager to please, enjoys attention, and will absolutely thrive with a family who wants a loyal companion to share everyday life with-walks, couch time, and all the little moments in between. If you're looking for a dog who will fill your home with affection, tail wags, and genuine companionship, Waylon is ready to be your guy. When Waylon arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, he tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like Waylon to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family. If you choose to adopt Waylon, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep him safe while he recovers. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates a full recovery! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Waylon is currently living in a foster home. For more information on him or to schedule an appointment to meet him, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
