About Axel

Start your journey together! Apply now. Meet Axel! This loving German Shepherd mix has just arrived in San Diego and is searching for either a foster or forever family to call his own. At approximately 3.5 years old and weighing over 85 pounds, Axel is a gentle giant who adores being close to his people—he’ll happily lounge at your feet or try to climb onto your lap for cuddles. Known for his calm and friendly nature, he enjoys leash walks, car rides, and lots of pets and head scratches. Axel is dog friendly and does great with children as young as two, always showing a gentle side. He’d thrive with a yard to play in and a family ready to return his endless affection. Because he’s curious about the outdoors, he’ll need a home with a tall fence to keep him secure. He’s not overly vocal, only barking when joining in with other dogs or when the doorbell rings, embodying the loyal, protective spirit common to German Shepherds. Axel is ready for a patient family who will help him settle in and offer the love and guidance he deserves. Fun fact: Axel is an Aries, so he’s lively and devoted!
