About Bam Bam Chi

Bam Bam ACCT-A-237970 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Bam Bam must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER by Saturday, November 29th at 10 A.M. Should Bam Bam's medical or behavioral status change, His urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Bam Bam is an 11-year-old sweetheart who was surrendered to the shelter when his owner could no longer afford medical care for his persistent cough. Despite feeling unwell, he arrived at ACCT Philly with a gentle spirit and a willingness to make friends, even offering his signature soft charm to staff right away. Though he's an older gentleman with notable medical needs, Bam Bam continues to show bright, interactive behavior. He enjoys treats-especially cheese-and interacts kindly with other dogs, as seen during his meet with Everest. His history shows he lived peacefully with cats and small dogs and has long adored children and strangers. Even while navigating health challenges, Bam Bam remains a loving, social dog who deserves comfort, support, and a safe place to land. VIDEOS: Bam Bam & Everest Meet: https://youtube.com/shorts/bYNLN8RwFus?feature=share 11/25 Per staff: Bam Bam was barking in kennel when I approached and backed up when I crouched down. I threw in some fresh pet and he moved to the front of his kennel to eat it and then retreated back. To leash him I threw some fresh pet and then leashed him as he was eating it. He needed a little encouragement to come out of kennel but with a little baby talk he came right out. We did a meet with another small dog and he wasn't too interested in meeting him. He was easy to pick up and I carried him back to his kennel. 11/25/2025 During an exam for a persistent cough reported by the owner, it was noted that Bam Bam had clear lung fields bilaterally, with no crackles or wheezes. He has a grade 5/6 heart murmur (rule-outs include mitral valve disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, and congenital heart disease). He also has a chronic cough, with differentials including congestive heart failure, cardiac disease, and respiratory disease. Overall, he is bright, alert, and responsive. He tested negative for heartworm. Radiographs show cardiomegaly with perihilar edema. He is rescue-only due to cardiac disease. A follow-up with a cardiologist is recommended. 11/24/2025 During a tech exam, it was noted that Bam Bam teeth are white with light staining. He was observed to be bright, alert, and responsive, and he enjoys cheese. 11/24 Per owner: Bam Bam is 11 1/2 years old. He loves strangers, children, dogs but is selective with cats. He is still eating, drinking and using the bathroom normally. still going out in the yard to use the bathroom, still playing with toys. coughing up mucus, does not want him to suffer and feels like he is with the constant deep coughing Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
