About Bo
Settle in for a read, friends, because Bo's story takes quite a few different turns, and is worthy of a Keith Morrison Dateline special. First, Bo was bought by his original family when he was just a tiny cute little puppy. After they had him two years, they attempted to "Dateline Mystery" him by anitfreeze poisoning. The meanness of humans can never be underestimated. Thankfully, somebody contacted Jackson Animal Care and Control whose officers were able to get to him and seek medical care before the owners were successful with their plan. From JACC on January 31st 2026: On Thursday, we removed Bo, a pit bull, from his home after his owner intentionally fed him antifreeze in an attempt to “get rid of him.” By the time he came to us, Bo was gravely ill and needed immediate emergency care. He spent hours at Deming Vet Services before being transferred overnight to Jackson Pet Emergency Clinic for further blood work and stabilization. Because we were able to act quickly, Bo’s prognosis is good, but his fight is not over. His medical expenses have already exceeded $1,000 and continue to grow. What makes this especially hard is who Bo is. Despite the cruelty he experienced, he remains a sweet, happy dog who loves his toys and his ball and has been kind and affectionate with everyone he has met. He did nothing to deserve what happened to him. Once his medical treatment is complete, Bo will need a new home, one that will give him the safety and care he should have had all along. Fast forward to 2.23.2026 and JACC contacted CPR to take custody of Bo because he was struggling in the chaos of the shelter environment, and we were happy to step in and help be the next to last step in this boy's rescue journey....the last step will be when we can kiss this good boy goodbye and see him off to his loving forever home where he will be loved and cherished as an important part of the family. This is what JACC reported at the time of transfer: Bo Deserved a Soft Place to Land 🐾💙 Some dogs struggle in the shelter environment — and sweet Bo was one of them. Bo recently transferred from Jackson Animal Care and Control to Companion Pet Rescue, and while we’re so grateful for this next step, getting here was heartbreaking to watch. Bo is a an energetic boy who needs room to move, think, and be. The noise, constant activity, and stress of the shelter was overwhelming to him. His spark started to fade, and we couldn't stand to see him be unhappy. We can't stand to see ANY dog unahppy but one who has fought so hard to overcome an obstacle that no dog should ever face was truly heart wrenching. He wasn’t a “bad dog.” He was a stressed dog. A sensitive dog. A dog who simply wasn’t thriving in this environment. When Companion Pet Rescue stepped forward and offered him a safe place to land, it felt like a lifeline. A quieter space. A chance to decompress. A chance to breathe. We cannot thank CPR enough for seeing past the stress and recognizing the good, loving dog underneath it all. This transition truly gives Bo the opportunity to reset and show the world who he really is. Please keep Bo in your thoughts as he settles in. And from the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Companion Pet Rescue for giving this boy the fresh start he so desperately needed. 🐶💛 Bo is great with other dogs, and loves humans of all sizes and ages. Every dog deserves a home, but this good boy is truly DESERVING after beating the odds of being poisoned by the people who were meant to love and care for him. We want to see him off to his forever home, and we hope that this post reaches just the perfect family who would love to adopt Bo and complete their family with this loving boy.
