Meet Enzo! He is a Shih Tzu who has endured a lifetime of neglect after being rescued from an overcrowded, overrun breeding situation in Tennessee during freezing temperatures. His world was once very small, and he was only ever used-never loved, never shown what it means to be safe in a home. Now that Enzo is in rescue, he's beginning the slow, brave journey of learning trust. He is fearful and needs a very gentle, patient approach. A calm, quiet home will be essential for him to feel secure and open up at his own pace. Enzo has never been a home dog before, so everything-from household routines to human affection-is new to him. He does well with other dogs, which helps boost his confidence. Enzo is currently scared of the leash, but our trainers are working with him on building confidence and structure. At this time, he does not enjoy being handled yet, but with consistency, patience, and respect for his boundaries, he continues to make progress. Enzo is looking for an experienced, compassionate adopter who understands that healing takes time and that trust is earned, not rushed.
