Some stories break your heart before they put it back together again 💔This is one of them. Two days ago, we received a message about a puppy who had been found in a drain in Houston, Texas. We have no idea how she got there. We don’t know how long she had been trapped. What we do know is that because of some truly incredible people who refused to walk away, she made it out alive. But the story didn’t stop there. we received some information, that the little survivor is the puppy of Winter, the sweet mama we pulled from a high intake shelter not long ago. We had no idea Winter came in with two puppies. We had no idea their dad was at the shelter too. Because of how fast dogs move through high intake facilities, the puppies were removed before we even knew they existed and their dad was tragically euthanized before we ever had a chance to save him. We didn’t know he was there. And that is something that will stay with us. One of the puppies somehow ended up in a dangerous situation alone, vulnerable, trapped in a drain. But fate had other plans. And now, we are so proud to introduce you to Skye 🌤️ Skye is safe, Skye is loved, And Skye is reunited with her mama, Winter. Watching them together is nothing short of powerful. Skye is now in foster care, surrounded by warmth, comfort, and people who will make sure she never faces something like that again.Skye is such a miracle! we would like to honor the life of her daddy the one we didn’t get to save. We carry him with us in this story. His legacy lives on in Skye and in the work we are able to continue doing every single day by fighting for the ones we can, and honoring the ones we couldn’t. Because sometimes, you have to walk through the hardest parts of the story to reach the miracle on the other side. Sometimes you have to feel the loss to fully understand the gift.
