About Kiara
Kiara’s story starts off tough—abandoned, left alone with a painful injury that went untreated. Picked up off the streets, it was clear right away she’d been struggling for a while. She’d been powering through with a serious limp, only able to put part of her weight on her right front leg. After x-rays, the full extent came out: an old elbow dislocation, a bad fracture, and lingering arthritis, likely from being hit by a car months ago. The damage is permanent. Kiara’s resilience stands out. She doesn't whine or shut down; she keeps pushing ahead and does her best just to be a regular dog. Surgery is complicated and has no guarantees. Vets have talked through options, including elbow fusion or, if pain can’t be managed, amputation—whatever will give Kiara her best, pain-free life. Right now, she is still being evaluated to decide the safest way forward. A lot of rescues weren’t willing to take Kiara on, but she deserves better than constant pain. Through all of it, her spirit hasn’t dimmed. She’s waiting for someone who can offer the comfort and safety she’s been missing. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
