About Fergus

Fergus is a 9-year-old black Scottish Terrier with a big personality and a medium-length coat. He’s friendly with people, attaches closely to his person, and tends to shadow them around the house. Fergus lost his longtime home when his owner passed away, and transition hasn’t been easy on him, but he’s made real progress settling into new routines. Since starting treatment for Cushings disease, he’s dropped about 10 pounds on his prescription diet and is feeling much better. Fergus will need to stay on daily medication for his Cushings, which is well-managed now and shouldn’t shorten his lifespan or impact his daily activities. He’s food-motivated, loves veggies, and is catching up on basic manners—sit, stay, no jumping—although he has a mind of his own, as most Scotties do. He enjoys social settings, loves car rides and shopping trips, and never misses a chance to make a new friend. Fergus is house trained and has done well with other dogs, though he’d be happiest with someone who works from home or is retired, since he prefers to be by your side as much as possible. He gets along with other dogs and is safe with cats but likes to have things his way and doesn’t mind letting you know. Fergus would do best in a quiet, Scottie-savvy household, ideally in the northeast, with someone who understands his medical needs and will keep up his daily routine. He’s a sweet, well-mannered guy who truly deserves a loving soft landing. Click apply to start the adoption process.
