Meet Miss Scarlett—Scarletta D is the kind of companion who makes herself right at home. She’s friendly with people and leans into affection, always staying close to her favorite humans. At night, she’ll snuggle up quietly without taking over the bed, and on your days off, she’s happy to let you sleep in. She’s mostly potty trained, with minor accidents that come down to timing, not intent. Treats bring out her best manners—she’ll sit on cue and is working on catching tossed treats, as long as you’ve got good aim. The outdoors is where Scarletta D lights up. She’s alert, curious, and keeps a close eye on squirrels and rabbits, sometimes getting fully caught up in the action (you’ll see that determined stare). Distractions can be tough when she’s zoned in, but that’s just part of her sharp and observant personality. She rarely barks and generally stays quiet and well-mannered. Like most new arrivals, she’s still ironing out a couple of habits—counter surfing and recall—but she’s making real progress with a patient, consistent routine and positive reinforcement. Scarletta D enjoys both outdoor time and lazy evenings—she’d do well with someone who loves a bit of both. Currently, she is being treated for heartworm disease and will need several weeks of restricted activity while she recovers. The rescue will cover her treatment costs, and adopters will just need to handle the retest scheduling and follow-up care with their vet. Scarletta D gets along well with other dogs but does not get along with cats. She’s good with kids and would suit a family looking for a loyal, funny, and slightly quirky new friend.
