About Cardi D
*This animal is a part of our "Seniors for Seniors" program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Meet Cardi - the dog all dogs wish they were! Cardi is a mixed breed, sweet as candy (candi?) and loyal to the end! This girl has a passion for tennis balls, cuddling, and being at your side every second of the day. She is a bubbly, intelligent girl with a heart bigger than the earth itself. Cardi is nine years young - and you'd never guess it, outside of that lovely smattering of frost on her nose! She has plenty of incredible, active years left in her. Cardi is house-trained and extremely intelligent - she knows multiple commands and listens with loyally to her foster. She is eager to please and desperate to learn! Her favorite activities are fetch, a good Kong chew, snuggle, playing tug, command practice, and walks. Cardi would be a perfect dog to enjoy food puzzles or hide-and-seek! She also walks very well on a leash. And don't get her started on tennis balls... she loves them SO much, she's convinced she needs two at a time! She is perfectly content playing solo or with her foster, and can manage alone time for multiple hours if needed. Cardi is a big girl, but she will let you pet her, scratch her, put her hand in her food and mouth, and get up in her face - all with a smile. She is quick to understand a new environment. She has no problem telling you what she needs, either - this girl is chatty, and acts like she's actually carrying on a conversation with you! After everything she's been through, Cardi prefers to be the only dog in the home, but she doesn't seem to mind cats. With introduction and patience, she could possibly handle a low energy, independent dog as a sibling. Ms. Cardi has had a rough go - her owner passed, leaving her inadvertently in a traumatic shelter situation. She barely evaded euthanasia. She survived confinement and neglect, but honestly - she's a positive go-getter who doesn't let that stop her! Cardi says, "Tragic backstory noted-anyway, who wants to hang out?" Cardi loves big and still assumes all humans are friends. We don't deserve an angel like Cardi - but she sure deserves a loving home where she can snuggle, chew her toys, and take lots of walks. If you want to give this gorgeous lady a second chance at life - she's ready to join you! Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car - it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Cardi is from a local shelter.
