About Phoebe
Phoebe’s story reads like a survival fable. She once lived outside, watched over by a kind man, until the night she needed help—grievously injured, carrying her surviving kittens over a fence, looking for a lifeline. They landed at Northwest Animal Companions, where her kittens thrived and were adopted, but Phoebe herself was wary and shut down, having spent so much of her early life fending for herself. Healing took time. Even as her kittens grew comfortable with people, Phoebe clung to solitude, needing a long stretch with a socialization foster before she considered the idea of housecat life. Progress came by degrees. Patience, gentle company, and treats eventually won her over. One day she spoke. Slowly she started to play, then took to laying in patches of sunlight on the bed. She’s still shy and will need an adopter who understands her need for slow introductions and quiet confidence. At her foster home, she’s allowed kids to approach and enjoys spending time near other cats. With the right person, Phoebe will keep unfolding—a gentle, resilient companion with a lot of heart.
