**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. My name is Rosemary and I’m a 3 year old mini Australian Shepherd that weighs 13 lbs. I’m very shy but I’m slowly making gains daily. I love to be held, as for most of my little life I was not cuddled. I will require a nice fenced in yard so I can run and frolic. I know nothing of this leash walking —because I was not introduced to that. In fact, I was kind of an afterthought. In time and with patience I bet I can conquer that leash thing!! Please let me have a couple months to really acclimate and gain trust. I guess my puppy socialization didn’t happen either so that held me back too. I’m just a little girl in a big world and it can be very scary and confusing for me. I don’t snap or growl. I just freeze and am silent. I relax when you reassure me. Small children would surely frighten me so I can’t go to a home with kiddies. I’m not destructive in the house (another strength). I use pp pads as well as the great outdoors. I’m not a barker either. I am fine with other dogs. Foster mom is wondering if I would make greater progress if I went to a home with one or no other dogs. This would allow me to bond with my human instead of another canine. My favorite part of the day is morning when foster mom gets her coffee and we snuggle under the blankets. That's when she tells me how bright my future is going to be! Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
