About Helga Sweetest Lil'
Meet Helga! Boy, oh boy - if you want someone to love, and you want to BE loved, Helga is the cat for you! Helga was rescued from the streets. We are not sure of her age but estimate her to be 6 -8 years old. Because of her docile temperament, we believe she was abandoned by her human and thrown out on the streets. Don't let Helga's grumpy face fool you - she is just an absolute sweetheart. She LOVES being pet and will do little acrobatics when you pet her! - flips and rolls - signifying she loves your attention and that she loves YOU. We don't know much about Helga's play habits, but that's up to her an her new parent to figure out together. We do know she's a hearty eater, generally very even-tempered, and her favorite pastime is just being near the hoomans she loves and getting as many pets as she can. She only has eyes for YOU! Helga NEEDS an angel who will love her deeply and give her the life she has always deserved. Helga was recently diagnosed with diabetes which requires specialized care. She would be best in a low-stress household without other pets as she is believed to have a stress disorder, as explained below. The disorder will have little actual affect on the cat as long as she is happy, healthy, and in a safe, comfy environment. It is also believe Helga may have Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, a common, non-infectious inflammation of the bladder in young to middle-aged cats, often triggered by stress. This disorder will also have very little affect on the cat as long as she stays happy and low-stress. This disorder does NOT require ongoing specialized care. Symptoms often clear on their own after a few days. Below is more information on the disorder: - No known cause - Stress disorder, not a urinary disorder though it mimics symptoms of a UTI without actual bacteria being present - More seriously affects MALE cats (blockages). Helga is female - Usually resolves within 2 to 7 days without intervention, or can be ameliorated using gabapentin to calm cats - To prevent flair-ups, keep stress low and water intake high Apply to adopt HELGA at bit.ly/btcradopt Or go through our website http://bronxtails.org All Bronx Tails cats are spayed/neutered (when age appropriate), vaccinated, tested for Feline AIDS and Feline Leukemia and are litterbox reliable and loving toward people. We require adopters to fill out an application, have basic references checked, allow a home visit and video tour (to ensure conditions are safe and reasonable), and pay an adoption fee. We allow all adopters an up-to-2-week-long tryout period to determine if the cat(s) is a good match for them. If not, we will retrieve the cat(s) and return the adoption fee in full. We will also help with tips and methods for introducing the cat(s) to other pets, if needed.
