About Bebe
Bebe came to Miri's with a plethora of medical issues, and we've been helping her fight them one by one. She had anemia, elevated kidney values, a high white blood cell count, an enlarged heart indicating heart disease, a collapsing trachea, dry eyes, mature cataracts that left her blind, limited hearing, and severe dental disease. Bebe is now on a renal diet with supplements, multiple medications to address infections and coughing, and twice daily eye drops. We are hoping she will be ready for a dental soon. Despite these issues and her blindness, Bebe is a very sweet and independent little gal. She navigates her foster home without any trouble, but we recommend no small children and a blind-savvy household to ensure her safety. She doesn’t enjoy a lot of doting, but she will occasionally offer gentle kisses when she feels like it. She will sleep in a bed next to yours and like to be gently stroked while you are in bed. (Best if she doesn't sleep in bed with you, as she could fall off the edge.) If you are someone who enjoys cooking, this is a bonus, as she enjoys hanging around the kitchen and soaking in the smells. This is one of her greatest pleasures! Just be sure not to step on her as she tries her best to get underfoot. She pees outside just fine, though it’s best to keep a diaper on her overnight and first thing in the morning ~ she’s small and simply can’t hold it that long. She’s also a “sometimes poo happens” kind of girl, so if that’s a dealbreaker, she may not be the right fit. She enjoys walks and exploring back yards. She will need to be carried up/down any stairs, and gates may be needed to keep her from wandering too much around the house. She would do best in a home with another dog, people that are home a fair amount to supervise her and give her regular potty breaks, and that is generally fairly calm. Bebe is approx 12 years old and 6lbs fostered in Knoxville, MD please apply at mirishaven.org
