About Mandarin
Mandarin arrived yesterday after a rescue angel drove through the storm to get her safe and we sure are glad she's here. This poor kid has a broken leg. Mandarin is sweet, affectionate, loves other dogs and people, toys and just life in general. Mandarin had a great first night in foster, she slept quietly in her cozy, warm crate with a bonus of the sweetest soft snores. Mandarin came into the shelter as a stray and shelter staff were able to locate her owner. Shelters require proof of ownership to relinquish a dog, her owner didn't have the required documentation. Without documentation her previous owner would need to adopt her, adoption requires an animal to be spayed/neutered. Her former owner only wanted her back unaltered, so instead of allowing the shelter to spay her for adoption, they left her at an overcrowded shelter. One of the many shocking realities of our current over population crisis, backyard breeders are still breeding and selling puppies with little regard for the animals in their care or the critical capacity most shelters have reached. We already have Mandarin scheduled with our friends at Russian River Veterinary Surgical Service (RRVSS) for an initial consult and imaging. They'll have her fixed up and feeling better in no time. Mandarin is a 9 month old Pitty type girl, weighing 35 pounds.
