About Mickey
Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! Mickey is a high-energy youngster who is always ready for fun and adventure! About a year old, this cattle dog/heeler mix weighs in around 45 lbs and shows boundless curiosity. Mickey recently took a field trip to town and proved himself a quick study—he’ll carefully offer his front paws to be lifted into a truck and, while his travels still come with boundless excitement, he’s learning the ropes. At the park and the beach, Mickey enjoyed exploring on a long line and showed a great recall when given verbal, whistle, and hand signal cues. He’s a playful guy with a puppy’s zest, loves to chase crows, and keeps a vigilant eye on the garden. As is common with young herding breeds, Mickey can be distracted and loves to wrestle and play with other dogs, accompanied by the characteristic herding-dog leg nipping. He did well meeting new dogs and people, displaying affectionate and attentive behavior. Though eager when meeting new humans, Mickey is learning not to jump and responds well to routine and clear direction. He will thrive with an active family able to provide regular exercise, a job or activity to focus on, and ongoing obedience training. Mickey prefers not to be around cats but is a social butterfly with his canine pals. He tolerates crating but isn’t a big fan yet. If you’re seeking an adventure buddy with lots of love and energy, Mickey could be the perfect match for your home! Make their next chapter their best one yet.
