About Lime

Lime is sleek, observant, and quietly thoughtful. With her glossy black coat and bright eyes, she has a graceful presence that feels both cautious and curious at the same time. She originally came from a community cat colony and has a tipped ear to show she was spayed through a trap-neuter-return program. During her recovery, she showed enough softness and tolerance of handling that we chose to give her a chance at indoor life instead of immediately returning her outdoors. Lime does not actively seek out pets yet, but if you move slowly and approach gently, she allows them. She is not reactive or aggressive — simply unsure. With calm, consistent 1:1 positive reinforcement using treats, toys, and patience, she has already begun making small but meaningful progress. In a busy rescue home with many other cats, it’s difficult for her to receive the focused attention she needs to fully blossom. Lime would benefit greatly from: • A quiet, patient adopter • Or a 4–6 week foster-to-adopt or socialization foster placement • A predictable routine and low-traffic environment She is the kind of kitten who will bond deeply once she feels safe. The trust is there — it just needs time to grow. Lime currently shares space in an indoor catio condo with Lemon, another under-socialized kitten, and they take comfort in one another. She may transition most smoothly if adopted with him or placed in a home with another friendly, confident cat who can model safe indoor behavior. If Lime is not adopted or placed in a dedicated socialization foster by the end of February, she will be returned to her colony. If you believe that shy kittens deserve a real chance — and you have the patience to help one bloom — Lime is waiting. Her adoption fee is $250 and she qualifies for the BOGO special if you adopt a second kitten at the same time from our rescue. In a foster-to-adopt situation, you would not have to pay an adoption fee, you would instead supply all necessary food, litter, and other routine supplies, while we provide any needed medical care. If at the end of the foster-to-adopt period, you do not feel like the kitten is a good fit, we'll take them back, no harm, no foul. Sometimes it just isn't a good fit no matter how hard you try, and we understand that.
