About Olive Aka Squeakers

Squeakers has a big personality, a big heart, and an unmistakable love for life...and treats. She is expressive, deeply bonded to her people, and happiest when she's close. She loves being held, will happily ride in a baby carrier, and communicates with squeaks, trills, and enthusiastic headbutts to make sure she's included. Squeakers has severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a neurological condition that affects balance and coordination but not intelligence or affection. CH is non-progressive. It does not worsen, but it also does not resolve. CH cats do not "get better." Strength, mobility, and confidence are maintained through consistent physical therapy, adaptive environments, and routine, all of which Squeakers currently receives. Her mobility challenges are significant. She can get around but falls frequently and often pulls herself along. Her foster home has adapted her environment extensively, and she is currently in physical therapy. Plans are in place to fit her for a quad cart to support safe mobility and enrichment. Daily care includes: -Physical therapy (5-10 minutes, 1-2x/day) -Assisted mobility and supervision -Low-entry litter boxes placed in every room for easy accessibility (she cannot run to the bathroom when nature calls? -A bathroom routine (holding her at the box ~3x/day to support success) With the correct setup, Squeakers uses the litter box about 95% of the time. She lays down to urinate and defecate and cannot stand in the box. She may occasionally need to be wiped down, and baths average 1-2 times per month. Structure and consistency are essential. Pee pads and fabric alternatives are not appropriate, as they can cause confusion with pet beds and soft surfaces. Squeakers is fostered with other cats. One resident cat regularly grooms her, and she enjoys feline companionship. Some cats do not fully understand her movements or play style, but with tolerant, cat-savvy companions, she does well and wants to be part of the group. Her ideal adopter is cat-savvy, patient, and willing to adapt. She is not a short-term or "starter" special-needs cat, but for the right home, she is an extraordinary companion with an incredible capacity for love. Olive is spayed, has age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, flea treated, combo tested for FIV & FeLV, and dewormed. At the time of adoption you will receive all medical paperwork.
