About English Bulldog Dogs

English Bulldogs are medium-sized, muscular dogs with a distinctive wrinkled face, pushed-in nose, and stocky build. They are gentle, loyal, and surprisingly affectionate, forming deep bonds with their families. Their calm demeanor and love of naps make them excellent companions for relaxed households.

Adopting an English Bulldog brings a sweet-natured, devoted friend into your home. They are great with children, easygoing with other pets, and perfectly content with a short walk followed by a long nap on the couch. Their personality more than compensates for their modest exercise capacity.

Health notes: Prone to breathing difficulties, skin fold infections, hip dysplasia, and overheating. Their flat face means they are very sensitive to hot weather. Regular cleaning of facial wrinkles is essential.

Austin summers are intense with temperatures regularly hitting 100°F. Early morning swims at Barton Creek and Barton Springs are great ways to keep dogs cool. Watch for blue-green algae warnings on Lady Bird Lake, as toxic blooms can be fatal to dogs.
