🐾 Meet Rico Suave — A Charming Shepherd Mix Ready for His Forever Home Rico Suave is a shepherd mix just over a year old, so while he’s past the tiny puppy stage, he’s still very much a young dog discovering the world with wide-eyed curiosity. True to his name, Rico is charming, inquisitive, and full of personality — a sweet soul who is learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. Rico would love a home with a secure, fenced yard where he can explore and enjoy the outdoors. He loves being outside, going for walks, and taking in all the new sights and smells. That said, he’s just as happy curling up beside his person on the couch — making him a great match for either an active family or a more relaxed household. He is incredibly affectionate and expressive. Rico loves to give big morning hugs, snuggle close, and nuzzle into your neck. Once he bonds with you, he will happily become your shadow, wanting nothing more than to stay close and share life with his person. He truly thrives on human connection. Rico gets along well with other dogs and would do fine as an only dog or with canine companions. Because of his past experiences, he can be a little timid if dogs bark or growl at him, but he’s learning that not all dogs are scary. His best dog friend was a female named Willa Bea, and with patience and positive experiences, his confidence continues to grow. This sweet boy is extremely food- and treat-motivated — meals are his favorite event of the day, and he does a happy little jump of excitement every time, as if it’s his first meal ever. He’s smart, eager to please, and learning manners and commands quickly, especially when treats are involved. Rico isn’t a big fan of going into a crate at first, but once inside he settles just fine. He’s still learning the routines of home life — leashes, toys, structure, and trust — and he’s doing incredibly well considering everything is new to him. Rico Suave may not have grown up with wealth or comfort, but what he offers is far more valuable: loyalty, affection, joy, and unconditional love.
