Foster dad says I’m super-smart. I’ve learned the routines and expectations here in my foster home really quickly like mealtimes, bedtime, and what we do when foster dad goes out. Predictable schedule and consistency really help me adapt. I’m not shy about expressing my opinions – and I have plenty of them. You will know if I find something objectionable. But I settle nicely if you reassure me. I love exploring my surroundings. I would be a great match for someone looking for an adventure buddy. Like a typical Shiba, I’m a natural door-bolter and escape artist, so my forever family should be super careful when opening doors and gates and take measures to prevent me getting loose and going on unsupervised adventures. I’m not fond of being left alone for long periods, so my perfect forever person would be someone who can spend time with me and who appreciates an attentive little shadow. I’d do well with an experienced dog person familiar with Shiba Inu personalities. There are other dogs here in my foster home, and I’m good with some of them. Because I’m a bold, spicy girl, I’d match best with laid-back, friendly dogs who don’t mind my confidence. Slow, gradual introductions will help, since I can be reactive through gates and barriers.
