About Luke

Luke is a big, glossy black Maine Coon mix with a medium coat, who made it through some hard times after being abandoned at the Ohio State Football Stadium. He’s got classic Maine Coon presence—smart, bold, but above all, affection-seeking. He’d spend all day close to people if he could, and is happiest curled up for a pet or held gently in your arms. Luke is that rare cat who will hang onto your hand to keep you near; he may even leave you with a soft love bite and a gentle pull to let you know you’re his person. His claws do need regular trims because he uses his paws to show affection, especially with ladies and girls—he’s slower to warm to men and kids, but once he trusts you, he’s a true friend. Luke gets along well with other cats, has never lived with dogs, and is a real gem in every way. Luke is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, house trained, and also FIV+. That label unfairly keeps too many great cats from finding homes, but with proactive care, FIV+ cats like Luke can live as long and happily as any other. He deserves a person who won’t look past him—someone who understands the Maine Coon energy and will let him be the affectionate boss cat he loves to be. He’s waiting in Columbus, OH, hoping to catch someone’s eye and start his new life. Adoption fee applies. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Luke

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Luke, as a Maine Coon and Domestic Medium Hair mix, tends to do well indoors where he can interact with people and feel safe. A home with plenty of space and opportunities for social interaction suits him best.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Luke doesn’t need outdoor space, especially since FIV+ cats should remain indoor-only for their safety and the safety of other cats. He will stay content with ample indoor room to play and climb.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Maine Coon mixes like Luke can be good with children if they treat him respectfully, though he may prefer adults or older kids since he takes longer to warm up to new people.
