Rooster
AvailableRooster is a large, adult male mixed breed dog with a beautiful gray, blue, silver, and white coat. He is currently at Mikaela's Mutt Motel. Rooster is house trained, neutered, and his vaccinations are up to date. While he does not have special needs, he would do best in an experienced, adult-only home where his boundaries are respected and he can continue to thrive.
About Rooster
Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you. Just over a year ago, Rooster arrived at Mikaela's Mutt Motel from the local animal shelter in heartbreaking shape—emaciated and in desperate need of care. Through dedicated love and rehabilitation, he has blossomed into a thriving, affectionate companion who truly embodies the power of second chances. Having endured the challenges of starvation, Rooster developed some resource-guarding tendencies early on. With patience and expert guidance from Twin Oaks Canine Camp, he has made remarkable progress, transforming from a nervous, resource-driven dog to a more confident and loving friend. This change is a testament to his resilience and the deep bonds he can form. Rooster needs a special, understanding home—one that will respect his space (especially around high-value treats or toys) and offer consistent, clear boundaries. He’s looking for an adopter or foster who is willing to help him continue his journey with gentle guidance and structure. Due to his past behaviors and size, Rooster should not be in a home with children and needs an environment where his space is always respected. Positive introductions have shown that Rooster can be quite social and do well with both other dogs and cats. His ability to love and express affection shines through, especially with those who understand his unique needs. Rooster is seeking a compassionate, experienced person ready to give him the loving, respectful home he truly deserves. Could you be that special person? Make their next chapter their best one yet.
