About Thaddeus
Thaddeus, a 4–6-year-old Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix, is a textbook example of resilience. After surviving a long time on the street, he arrived at the shelter emaciated and in rough shape, but despite the hardships, he still offered nothing but sweetness — earning the highest possible behavior score during his vet exam. Now safe in a foster home in San Diego, he’s filling out both physically and emotionally every day, thanks to a patient foster family and some helpful canine buddies. Lovingly called "Theo," he is steady and eager to please, with a deep affection for his people that borders on needy. He thrives on close connection and being included in family activities. Theo enjoys other friendly dogs and seems happiest alongside a loyal companion. He’s goofy and happy, loves an adventure, and moves with the energy of a much younger dog. You’ll find him eager for hikes, games, and then curling up on the couch with you later. He can be jumpy and a little mouthy when overexcited, so he’s looking for a home with older kids who can respect boundaries. Thaddeus does not do well with cats — his interest is too high — so a cat-free home is necessary. Every day, he grows braver around new people and situations, but separation anxiety lingers and he’ll need a family ready to offer routine and security.
