He may be 18+ pounds, but he’s absolutely convinced he’s a lap dog—and honestly, once he curls up on you, it’s hard to argue with him. He has a wonderful, affectionate disposition and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. Buttons is curious about everything. The world is fascinating to him, whether it’s a new toy, a sound outside, or someone walking through the room. Fireworks on New Year’s Eve weren’t his favorite (loud noises are still a bit scary), but with reassurance and cuddles, he settles right back in. He’s incredibly loving and expressive—face kisses are one of his specialties. He plays amazingly well with foster’s 3-year-old terrier mix, chasing each other through the house, leaping onto couches, and burning off that puppy energy together. Speaking of energy: Buttons is a runner. He loves to run and run and run some more—his energy level is a solid 8/10. House training is a work in progress, but he’s learning quickly and already knows how to use a dog door. At night, Buttons loves sleeping in bed next to you and will happily wake you up in the morning with gentle nibbles and enthusiastic kisses to your face and fingers. He’s very much still in the puppy stage—play biting, licking, and joyful mischief included. He loves attention, thrives on affection, and will happily soak up pets all day long. Buttons enjoys fetch with balls and stuffed animals… though sometimes he prefers to keep the prize and tease you into chasing him instead. Buttons rides well in the car and is learning leash manners (occasionally the leash looks a little too much like a toy). Treats and food are major motivators for him, which makes training fun and rewarding. He would do best in a home without cats, as he likes to bark at them, and he also likes to hear himself. What he does love is people, playtime, affection, and being part of the action. Buttons is a sweet, energetic, loving puppy who will bring laughter, kisses, and nonstop companionship to the right home. If you’re looking for a playful cuddle-bug with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Buttons might just be your perfect match.
