Slade is a young male Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler with a striking blue merle coat. His coat is medium length, and he’s considered medium-sized. Slade is recently neutered, vaccinated, and currently located in Folkston, GA. Due to his special needs as he goes blind and his lack of housetraining, he’ll need an adopter ready to provide stability and patience.

About Slade

Slade was rescued from a neglected backyard kennel and is just now learning about the world outside. He’s wonderfully sweet, though new experiences and people still make him uneasy. Slade has never shown aggression, but he remains timid and cautious. Most of his human contact has been with shelter staff and veterinarians. He’s up to date on all his vet care, but you should know that his vision is failing—he already struggles to see, so anything new can be overwhelming. He’ll need ongoing support as he gradually goes blind. Slade is not yet comfortable on a leash, and while he does best with female dogs, he can be selective with males, especially since he’s about to be neutered. He will need patient, gentle people who can offer consistent one-on-one attention and help him feel secure. He’s not house trained yet and needs a serious, understanding adopter. Slade will be available for adoption after March 4th. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
