About Dodger

Dodger came to safety from an overwhelmed shelter where his future was uncertain. Now fully vetted and neutered, he's had his shots and is past an Ehrlichia infection with no current symptoms—just a clean bill of health. Dodger gets along well with other dogs and really thrives when he has a canine playmate in the home. His upbeat, energetic nature means he needs a securely fenced yard to run off steam, and young kids probably aren't a great match right now. He isn't cat-tested at this point. At his foster home, Dodger has been working on commands—the feedback is he's sharp and gets the hang of things quickly. One thing he really enjoys: swimming in the family pond. Ready to fall in love? Questions about Dodger

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Dodger, being a German Shepherd Dog/Collie mix, usually does best in a home with space to move—ideally a house with a yard rather than an apartment. These breeds appreciate an active household.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

A mix like Dodger generally benefits from a decent-sized, securely fenced yard where he can run and play safely. Both German Shepherds and Collies enjoy outdoor activities and will thrive with room to burn energy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Dodger himself has a lot of exuberance, so he may not be an ideal fit for homes with young children, although his breeds can do well with older, dog-savvy kids.
