Ruby is a loving, loyal girl who bonds deeply with her people. She thrives on companionship and does best when she isn't left alone for long periods. She enjoys enrichment toys like frozen Kongs and food puzzles and settles best when she knows her people are nearby. What Ruby Does Well Friendly and playful with confident, well-matched dogs (has done well with a large pit mix neighbor dog). Understands basic walk etiquette and can have calm, enjoyable walks in low-distraction environments. Affectionate, people-oriented, and eager to be close to her humans. Fence-friendly with neighboring dogs. Enjoys mental enrichment and food-based activities. What Ruby Needs Support With Ruby has some challenges that require an experienced, committed home: Separation Anxiety: Ruby struggles when left alone. She may vocalize and can be destructive if not properly managed. She does best with someone who is home most of the time or willing to continue working on separation anxiety with structure and support. Dog Reactivity: Ruby is reactive toward some dogs, particularly smaller or more submissive dogs. She should be the only dog in the home or placed with a very confident, well-matched dog under professional guidance. Leash Reactivity: Walks can be hit or miss. She can become overstimulated by small dogs, squirrels, or multiple triggers at once. A handler who can focus solely on Ruby (no small children on walks) and continue training would be ideal. Management Required: Ruby will need secure containment and thoughtful introductions. Crate-and-rotate or barrier management has been used, but she would do best in a home where this isn't a long-term necessity. Ideal Home for Ruby Adult-only or older-teen household. Experienced dog owner familiar with reactivity and anxiety. No small dogs. Preferably no other pets. Someone home most of the day or committed to structured training.
