Meet Stella, a sweet and graceful 9-year-old purebred Miniature Poodle weighing approximately 15 pounds. Stella came to us from Inland Valley Humane Society in Pomona. While we don't know her backstory or how she found herself there, we do know she has blossomed beautifully in our care. When Stella first arrived, she was very ill. We immediately sought veterinary attention, and although her initial test results were confusing due to a mix-up with another animal's lab work, we are happy to report that Stella is now healthy, thriving, and medication-free. She has truly turned a corner and is feeling so much better. Stella has a quiet, aloof nature. She's an independent little lady who doesn't demand constant attention or affection, but she has a gentle presence that makes her very special. She may be hard of hearing—or perhaps she simply chooses when to listen—but she navigates her world just fine. When she's feeling especially happy, she does the most adorable little dance and prance that will absolutely melt your heart. She is house-aware and will go to the door when she needs to go outside, though her adopter will need to pay attention to her subtle cues. Stella sleeps through the night, gets along well with other dogs, and peacefully coexists with cats. We've noticed that Stella seems to perk up around older individuals, which leads us to believe she may have once belonged to a senior companion. Because of this, we feel she would do best in a calm home with an older person or couple who can offer her gentle companionship, short walks, and a predictable routine. She doesn't need constant interaction—just someone who appreciates her quiet charm and allows her to simply be herself. Stella has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and she is ready to find a loving forever home where she can continue to feel safe and secure.
