About Britta

Britta is a very sweet German Shepherd who is very good with people and is quite a velcro pup. Britta was rescued from a high kill shelter of Texas, thanks to her foster mom stepping up for her. She had a rough life before that. Xray of her leg showed several very tiny pieces of metal fragments. The vet thought that it was shotgun pellets lodged in her leg, although they are not interfering with her walks or daily activities. Despite the atrocities against her, Britta, like a true German shepherd, is loyal to the core and a very loving and trusting pup. She is in a foster home in Texas with a second doggie foster brother, and gets along well, although she is the dominant one (German shepherd girls are always the diva). She has not been tested with cats, and has not lived with kids in our presence, so we will prefer a home where she could be an only child. Lately, Britta has fallen in love with a rubber bone toy and LOVES to have it thrown so she can fetch it and bring it back. She knows how to sit and shake with both paws. She likes to go on walks and does well on a leash. She has some insecurities in the car and whines during rides, probably due to past trauma, but it can be worked with. All in all, she is a really, really good dog. Britta is 8 years old, 60 lb, and fully vetted, spayed and heartworm negative pup. She is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. She is currently in Texas but can be transported to several states and even Canada to the right home. To adopt our pups, yards must be fully and adequately fenced. She is in Houston TX but can be transported to several states in USA and Canada. To adopt Britta, please send an application via savesomesouls.com Britta's' adoption fee of $400 includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and Harness. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
