About Beatrix

Beatrix’s story is one of the most remarkable turnarounds we’ve ever seen. Many will remember her as the elusive dog who survived more than two years living along the side of an expressway, terrified of people and constantly fleeing anyone who tried to help. She was feral, covered in ticks, and fighting to survive every single day. Today, she is almost unrecognizable from that frightened dog. Beatrix has blossomed into a sensitive, loyal companion who is finally ready for a home of her own. Beatrix is about three years old and weighs around fifty-five pounds. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and mostly house-trained. She thrives on routine and finds great comfort in knowing what to expect. Once she trusts you, she becomes incredibly affectionate, leaning in for snuggles, neck rubs, and quiet time by your side. She eats well when she has company and has developed some very endearing habits—she will gently vocalize when she wants to join you on the couch, jump into the shower if you leave the door open, and follow you from room to room simply to be near. She handles car rides and walks best in calm, short stretches, and she has shown no guarding around toys or food. What she wants most is closeness and predictability. Beatrix will need to be the only pet in the home. She is still learning confidence and cannot live with other dogs or cats. Because she can bark or jump when she becomes nervous, a home without small children is best for her. What she truly needs is a patient, steady environment with people who appreciate routine as much as she does and who understand that slow, gentle guidance will help her continue to grow. Beatrix has already overcome more than most dogs ever will. From surviving on the expressway, to learning that humans can be safe, to finally being ready for a family—her journey has been extraordinary. She is a miracle dog who deserves a lifetime of peace, love, and security, and she is ready to meet the person who will give her exactly that. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
