He’s happiest sitting nearby, leaning in for pets, or curling up for a good snuggle. Attention makes his tail wag, and he gives that love right back tenfold. Born around May 2025, Dexter shares a deep, unbreakable bond with his sister, Lexi. After being abandoned together, the two relied on each other for comfort and reassurance. That connection still guides him today. Dexter follows Lexi everywhere. If she goes inside without him, he’ll search until he finds her—and once he does, he races right up to her like he’s been reunited with his favorite part of the world. Because of this bond, Dexter and Lexi must be adopted together. Dexter is playful in the most endearing way. He loves toys and chew bones, but his idea of fun extends far beyond traditional dog toys. Empty egg cartons, cardboard boxes, everyday odds and ends—if it exists, Dexter is willing to try playing with it at least once. He’s friendly, loving, and full of personality, including a classic Pyr-style stubborn streak. When Dexter is outside and decides he’s not ready to come in, he’ll simply lay down and let you know he’s made his choice. He also would not be a good fit for a home with chickens or ducks. Dexter is a loyal, loving boy with a gentle soul and a playful heart. Dexter and Lexi are ready for a home where they’ll never be left behind again, where they can continue to share their story together. Here's what one of our adopters says about our ability to match dogs: - "I am not sure what very real MAGIC you have from across the continent, but I really love it. You have done it again! Another love match!- Thank you for four out of five Pyrenees coming from GPRS and each of them have been perfect for us.… And for each other! One month together and “Lady“ is healing and happy. Thank you for all of your very hard work. Keep honing your intuition … it is spot on!" ....Julie P ADOPT HERE: Complete an Adoption Application for your Pyr-fect new family companion at https://gprs.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=6206. PUPPIES ARE ONLY PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL RESIDENT DOGS WHO ARE AT LEAST 50 POUNDS. Our requirements for puppy adoptions are simple and necessary. Our puppies are not livestock guardians, they are family pets that live inside of the family home. Puppies must be placed in homes with a youthful, adult resident dog of similar size. This gives the puppy a mentor and a solid foundation for becoming part of the family. Puppies are only adopted to homes with someone at home at least part of the day. If no one is home for 6-8 hours at a time, please do not apply. Preference is always given to those with Great Pyrenees experience. Applicants must have secure, visible fencing and a socialization plan in place. The fastest way to be considered for a puppy is to fill out an application. Adoption is not first come, first served. GPRS and its fosters work diligently to find the right fit for each and every unique dog and puppy. Applicant’s personal pets must be current on vaccines & heartworm/flea prevention and be altered. Adoption fee: $450 for the pair (Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, distemper/parvo vaccines, flea preventative, deworming, and health certificate for travel). Adopters pay the cost of transport services outside of Texas area. Transport costs depend on location and company used. Northeast transport fee is $200 each. The Northwest and Midwest transport fees range from $225-$350 each. The Southeast transport fees range from $250-$350 each. GPRS has proudly placed thousands of Great Pyrenees and GP mixes in the PNW for over a decade. Our volunteers have over 100 years combined experience fostering, screening, and placing this majestic breed into loving, forever homes. When adopting from us, you can rest assured that we provide life-long support and advice when it comes to your new family member. As always, our purpose is to find the best match for every unique dog that comes through our doors. Taking the time to find the right fit comes first and foremost at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. If you are interested in adopting, please take the time, and apply. You will see firsthand how much care, attention and love goes into the process, when you are guided a personal screener. This is why we have people come back again and again for their next family member!
