AvailableRex is a large, tricolor (brown, black, and white) mixed breed who is about 3 years and 7 months old. He’s house trained, neutered, and his vaccinations are up to date. Rex lives in Irwin, PA, and embodies the easygoing and friendly traits his DNA mix suggests.
About Rex
Rex is eager for a fresh start. He’s about three and a half years old—though his foster suspects he’s younger—and has roots in breeds like American Pit Bull Terrier, Treewalker Coonhound, Great Pyrenees, and Boxer, giving him both stamina and a friendly, adaptable spirit. He arrived in Pennsylvania weighing 47 lbs and is now up to a healthy 53. In his foster home, Rex has proven thoroughly housetrained with no accidents. He’s very dog friendly and enjoys the company of other pups, ideally those his size or larger, but he’s equally happy if someone’s home much of the day. He does best with a fenced yard where he can explore, though he doesn’t require excessive exercise. Walks and hikes seem to suit him just fine. Rex loves to snuggle and prefers to stay close to his people—especially if he’s allowed on the bed. He’s quiet and doesn’t beg at mealtimes, simply lying at your feet for company. When visitors come, Rex doesn’t jump except when greeting his foster mom in her excitement. He did wonderfully with an 11-year-old child, handling the commotion with calm interest. Rex is working on learning his commands—he gets nervous about “sit”—and he is still unsure of quick movements, especially from men, but is growing more relaxed and affectionate. He’s also practicing riding in the car, exploring recall, and being gentle with wildlife and outdoor cats. Rex was born October 12th, so he’s a Libra; Libras are known for their balanced, easygoing nature, which shows in his demeanor. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
