Like any other kitten, she’s curious, affectionate, and full of life. There’s just one thing in her medical file that often gets misunderstood: Enid is FIV positive. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) affects only cats. It cannot be spread to humans or other animals. It’s typically transmitted through deep bite wounds, which means FIV-positive cats can live with other friendly cats, especially if introduced properly. We believe Enid’s mother was affected and transferred the virus to her. Many FIV-positive cats live their entire lives without showing symptoms. With regular vet care, good nutrition, and an indoor lifestyle, FIV-positive cats can live as long as FIV-negative cats. Enid doesn’t require daily medication or special treatment- just love, safety and routine care like any other cat. What Enid does need is an adopter who understands that FIV is a manageable condition, not a definition of who she is. She’s not fragile, contagious, or limited. She’s a normal kitten who happens to carry a virus that science and good care have made very livable.
