Once he’s settled in, he plays well with dogs around his size and age. He always wants to please his human and get their attention. Smokey is very intelligent and curious. He is food and treat motivated. He goes to his kennel on command. He knows sit and lay down. He may be fresh off the streets, but he has never had an accident inside! He is a very quick learner. Smokey is always looking for his human(s). Even without a leash, he will stay close to his person. He has only had his name for a week, but his recall is impressive for such a short time. He currently lives with 2 other 60-70lb Shepherd mixes and one human. Smokey will thrive in an active home that can give him exercise, mental stimulation, and positive attention. After he gets his exercise, he is calm and is content to nap near his human. He is definitely a "pick me" puppy. He would do best in a home where he is the only dog, or in a home with a more mature dog that can teach him the ropes. He should not be someone's first dog. Smokey needs a yard. He is not an apartment dog. Access to a space where he can run would make him and his family very happy. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport. *Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog. Fees for puppies (under 12 months) are higher because they require more vetting than dogs over 1 year. *Listed breed and age are based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption. *Our adopters are eligible to receive 50% off training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30 days of adoption, and 25% off programs booked within 60-90 days of adoption. *All of our adopters are invited to join our “Alum Pupdates” Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!
