Joseph
AvailableJoseph is a large male Shepherd/Mixed Breed with a striking black and white medium-length coat. He is an adult dog and has been neutered, with his vaccinations up to date. Found at Del Norte County Animal Control, Joseph has some special needs due to previous grooming neglect, but with ongoing care, his coat is improving. He is not yet house trained and will require a home dedicated to his ongoing care.
About Joseph
This could be the start of something paw-some. Meet Joseph! He was found near the beach on Christmas Eve day, soaked from the rain, but is now ready for a loving home. Thought to be a Shepherd/Husky mix, Joseph weighs about 71 lbs and is estimated to be around 6-8 years old. His gorgeous medium coat was neglected, resulting in thin fur on his back and tail, but with medicated baths, it’s already starting to grow back. Joseph is calm, gentle, and easygoing. During a recent kennel break, he loaded and traveled calmly in the truck, showed no aggression toward other dogs (although he sometimes barks as they pass), and displayed good recall with a whistle and “come” command. His play style is always gentle—he never jumps up, making him a potential great companion for families with kids. Joseph enjoys leisurely walks, keeps by his handler’s side, and responds well to praise and affection. He is adjusting to life indoors, has not shown interest in marking when corrected, and hasn’t made potty mistakes while out and about. Joseph doesn’t care for crates, prefers hanging out in the play yard, and loves to pump his tail up and down instead of wagging. Please note: Joseph needs a cat-free home and his new adopters must keep up with his grooming so his coat can thrive. Despite the lack of care he’s seen, Joseph has a heart full of love and deserves a wonderful new start. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
