Hugo came to us as a very, very scared stray, unsure of the world around him. Since being at the Humane Society, he has made wonderful progress and continues to come out of his shell more each day. While he’s still a timid boy, Hugo just needs a patient, understanding home that will allow him to move at his own pace. Underneath his shy exterior is a very cute, goofy personality that shines through once he feels safe. Sometimes it seems like Hugo is still learning how to be a dog, and watching him discover new things is incredibly rewarding. Hugo has done well with other dogs here at the shelter when given the opportunity, and canine companions may help boost his confidence. We are unsure how he does with cats or children, but with proper introductions and a calm environment, we do not foresee this being an issue. If you’re someone who believes in second chances and has the patience and love to help a shy dog blossom, Hugo could be the perfect companion for you.
