Meet Happy — a name that tells the story of where he’s headed, not where he came from. For years, Happy knew only life at the end of a chain in a crowded hoarding situation. No soft bed, no gentle hand, no chance to just be a dog. But even after all that, his spirit never broke. Now, Happy is learning what freedom feels like — belly rubs, sunshine naps, and the joy of being loved. He’s gentle, loyal, and so ready to be someone’s whole world. Happy would do best as the only dog in the home (he’s waited long enough to have all the love to himself!) and he’s wonderful with children. After a lifetime of waiting, Happy’s ready to finally live up to his name. Volunteer Perspective – Time with Happy Happy definitely lives up to his name! He's got such a big, goofy, affectionate personality that makes it impossible not to smile when you're with him. He’s a true lover of affection — soaking up every bit of attention, rolling over for belly rubs, and giving plenty of kisses. He knows "sit," walks easily on leash, and fully believes he’s a lap dog, which only makes him more endearing. You’d never guess how things started off for him. He’s a resilient boy with a tender heart, eager to please and ready to find the love he deserves. He even spent time with a large group of fourth and fifth graders during a school visit, and he was the perfect "subject pup." He handled the noise, the attention, and all the excited little hands like a champ, and you could tell it truly made him happy to be around the kids.
