Desi is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s learning that people can be pretty wonderful. When he first arrived in foster care, his safe place was under the futon, and that’s still where he retreats when he feels unsure. But with patience and consistency, Desi has made lovely progress and now comes out about 75% of the time when encouraged. Once he’s feeling safe, Desi truly shines. He’s a lap cat at heart and likes to curl up, soak in gentle pets, and reward you with steady purrs. He clearly enjoys quiet companionship and does best when the environment is calm and predictable. Sudden noises or unfamiliar people can send him back to his safe space, so he’ll need an adopter who understands that trust takes time. Desi hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, but that’s likely to come as his confidence continues to grow. For now, his favorite activities are lap time, soft pets, and peaceful moments with his person. Desi would thrive in a quiet home with someone who is around often, perhaps a work-from-home adopter, who can give him the patience, reassurance, and space he needs to fully blossom. With time, he’ll be an incredibly rewarding companion for someone who values a deep, earned bond.
