Meet Merle Merle is a 4-year-old good boy with a resume. He's a proud HSW alumni who once hit the jackpot with a loving home and a life as a farm dog. Sadly, life threw a curveball when his owner had to move out of state into assisted living-and through no fault of his own, Merle is back with us, looking for his next forever chapter. Merle knows the rhythm of country life. He's comfortable with space, routine, and having a job (or at least supervising one). He thrives when he has room to stretch his legs, fresh air to sniff, and people who appreciate a steady, loyal companion by their side. This isn't a behavior issue or a "didn't work out" situation-Merle was deeply loved. He's simply a dog who lost his person and deserves another chance at the life he knows and loves. Merle does have an old injury on his right rear leg that he's lived with for several years. When he came to us, a veterinarian confirmed it is a past ACL injury. While his leg may look a bit different, it doesn't slow him down or cause him pain-he gets around very well and remains happy and active. To help protect the leg and prevent further injury, we worked with Pet Ortho Braces that custom-made a supportive brace for Merle, which he wears while playing and running.
