About Gypsy
Gypsy is a sweet-natured Shih Tzu mix, tipping the scales at about 10 pounds, with the silkier coat and gentle underbite of a Yorkie. Her journey hasn’t been easy—she was found alone and hungry on the streets before animal control brought her to safety. Once she landed in foster care, Gypsy quickly opened up, showing off her affectionate personality. She loves being with her people, thrives on attention, and will climb onto any available lap for a snuggle. She’s playful, sharp, and especially enjoys chasing her little ball or curling up to watch TV with her foster mom. When she’s comfortable, she gets joyous zoomies around the house. Gypsy still gets a little nervous when meeting new people but tries hard to make friends. She’s patient and gentle, eager to please, and does well with other animals—her foster home even includes a big dog, a small dog, and a cat. She’s house-trained with a doggy door, walks politely on leash, and knows simple commands like “sit.” Gypsy sleeps quietly through the night and travels calmly in the car. Her ideal adopter will offer kindness, patience, and stability, preferably with another small, friendly dog to guide her and a fenced yard for safe play. She needs someone home most of the time to reinforce her confidence and continue her socialization. Gypsy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and takes Heartgard Plus. Long-haired pups like Gypsy need regular brushing and professional grooming, so be sure this level of care fits your lifestyle. If you’re chosen to adopt, you’ll have a three-week trial to make sure the match works. Out-of-state adopters are welcome, but you’ll need to come to North Carolina in person to meet her.
