About Dexter

Click apply and let the tail-wagging begin! Dexter came to us just in time. After spending most of his life in a shelter, he was beginning to mentally decline and then suffered a traumatic attack from another dog, resulting in injuries to his leg and jaw. He was on the brink of being euthanized—not because he wasn’t worthy, but because no one had taken the time to see him for who he truly is. Since coming into a nurturing foster environment, Dexter has blossomed. With consistent socialization and training, he’s learned to engage with other dogs more appropriately and has picked up solid obedience skills. Dexter is incredibly smart, eager to please, and his fondness for treats makes training a fun experience for both him and his humans. Now nearly 5 years old, Dexter is crate trained, playful, and curious. After spending so long in a shelter, he’s still discovering the world, and he’s loving every second. Dexter would thrive in an active, adult-only home that is committed to continuing his training and involving him in daily adventures. He is dog-selective, particularly with dogs in his personal space, but he’s generally able to walk past other dogs without issue. He truly wants to be the best boy—and he is giving it his all. Sweet and resilient, Dexter has endured so much and remains full of love, energy, and potential. All he needs now is someone to see him for the wonderful companion he can be. Fun fact: As a Gemini, Dexter is versatile and thrives on mental stimulation. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
