About Gentry

Gentry is a small poodle who spent her early years with a breeder, but those days are behind her and she's learning what home life can be. This gentle girl moves cautiously and takes her time getting comfortable with new surroundings. There's no aggression in her, only a quiet reserve that she is slowly letting go of week by week. She comes to life around other dogs and needs a confident, friendly canine companion in her home—a mentor dog to help her figure out the world. Gentry follows her foster sibling everywhere, inside and out, and finds real comfort in her company. She's not house trained yet, but she hasn't had accidents while kept on a regular schedule with plenty of outdoor breaks. She sleeps through the night in a cozy gated area with other dogs and is content to rest when left with canine company. Trust is coming slowly; Gentry allows gentle petting and being picked up when she's on the couch, even wrapping her little paws around her foster. She isn’t playful or outgoing, but she does like cuddling up in a quiet moment. Gentry is a good eater and enjoys snacks, though not yet from your hand. She will need ongoing patience—nothing about her adjustment can be rushed. Leash walking is still a work in progress, but she's learning basic commands such as “stop.” Adopter requirements: another friendly dog at home is a must, adults only or families with children age six and up, and residence in WI, IL, or parts of MN. Gentry’s best home will be quiet and purposeful, with people who understand progress may come in slow, small steps. Make her next chapter her best one yet.
