About Rosco
Rosco is a 13-year-old Blue Heeler, 46 lbs, neutered, and heartworm negative. He came to PRC after his owner passed away and the next of kin could not keep him. Rosco was adopted quickly but sadly returned when it was discovered he had a strong prey drive toward one of the cats in the home. Rosco is house trained, walks beautifully on leash without pulling, and enjoys car rides. He is social and curious with new people, greeting with a calm, loose body posture. He does wonderfully with people of all ages, including young children, and is comfortable around wheelchairs, walkers, and canes. He’s especially fond of older men and gets visibly excited when he meets them. He has lived peacefully with other dogs and is described as gentle, dainty, and tolerant in playgroup. At the shelter, Rosco is easy to leash and handle. On walks, he’ll let you know when he’s tired and may stop to take a break—he’s a senior who listens to his body. Rosco’s favorite things are food, rolling in the grass, and his stuffed animals. He doesn’t destroy his toys—he carries them around, grooms them, suckles them, and treats them like prized possessions. Medically, Rosco has severe dental disease (including a broken tooth and mobile incisors), age-related eye changes (cataract in the left eye and possible early cataract or nuclear sclerosis in the right), and came in overweight (BCS 9/9), though he has already lost some weight in care. Rosco is a sweet, loving senior who is looking for a calm home—ideally without cats he may fixate on—where he can enjoy comfort, routine, and companionship in his golden years.
