Smokey is currently in a foster home in Hyattsville, Maryland and is eligible for meet & greets! Meet Smokey! Smokey is a 2 year old male Cane Corso / Weimaraner mix who came to us as a stray. Smokey currently weighs 53 pounds and is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to find his forever family! Smokey is dog friendly and currently lives with 2 other dogs in his foster home. We would say that Smokey has a low to moderate energy level. He enjoys playing with the other pups in his foster home, but also enjoys cuddling up on the couch and watching Gilmore Girls with his foster mom! He's very submissive during play with other dogs and loves playing chase. Smokey would prefer a home without cats. Smokey walks great on a leash! He can be a little nervous around strangers and might bark out of excitement, but is easily redirected. He does get excited in the beginning and will pull just slightly, but he settles in and walks calmly by your side once the excitement wears off. Smokey is fully potty trained and is sure to only do his business outside. Smokey is not a huge fan of the crate. He will occasionally go into the crate to rest, but he needs time to acclimate to your home. Smokey does have some separation anxiety and would prefer a home with someone who works from home or is only away from the home for a few hours a day. We also think Smokey would be best suited for someone with a house and not an apartment. He does well if left to free roam. He's very submissive and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He doesn't love being away from his humans and if they plan to crate him, he will cry and whine. He would also do really well in a home with a doggie companion as he loves playing with other dogs. If I had to describe Smokey in a few words it would be "kind-hearted" and "affectionate". He's so ready for a family to love! With his gentle nature and friendly personality, he's the perfect companion for someone looking for a laid-back, easygoing dog. Smokey is a total couch potato who's more than happy to hang out and relax with you all day! If you’re looking for a dog who enjoys a good snuggle and quiet time, Smokey is your guy! Smokey is dog-friendly and enjoys a good game of chase with his canine friends. On walks, he gets excited when he sees other dogs, but he remains friendly and easy to redirect.
