About Smokey Cl Located In

Located in Augusta, WI Are you looking for an overall good dog? Do you like the high drive and high energy breeds but don’t want to deal with a menace to society puppy of said breeds? Are you a home that enjoys being active and making sure your dog's needs are met daily? Smokey may be your man! Smokey is a 60lb 6 year old Belgian Malinois who is looking for an active home! Due to no fault of his own, just life changes within his household, I took him in to keep him out of a shelter environment and he is now ready to find his forever! He has been raised in a pet home and is a pretty nice stable dog imo that is easy to handle. Energy Despite being 6 years old, he is still very much a Malinois and is an active boi! He needs mental stimulation and physical exercise daily to thrive. If his needs aren’t met he will not settle, as he will pace. He has gotten much better with learning how to do nothing on calmer days since I’ve gotten him. Drive/Sport Potential It is not required but I do believe Smokey would have a lot of fun in a sport home! He has food drive, lots of toy drive. He loves balls and tug. He will play fetch. He enjoys Disc. Has been introduced to Dock Diving and once he gains more confidence on the dock I bet he’d love it! He likes the flirt pole, he would probably enjoy fastCAT. I can introduce him to scentwork if anyone would like to see his potential for that. Training He has been a really good dog thus far, he has basic obedience (Sit, Down, Place). He has a great recall and does really well staying in the boundaries of my unfenced yard while off leash. While on leash he will pull if he really wants to sniff something. He doesn’t have any reactivity and handles being out in public and dog events well. He doesn’t get into anything in the house, doesn’t jump up on counters and has good manners around food. In his previous home it was mentioned he stayed free roaming when folks were gone. Non destructive (Except will destroy bedding in his crate). Crate training, he will have a hard time settling if his needs aren’t met before being crated. He does great sleeping in the crate for bedtime or free roaming at night(he sleeps in bed with me and the other dogs) He does have big FOMO in the crate if you are having fun without him. And he can be vocal when he is alone in the home- For this reason I will not consider an apartment placement for him. He has not shown me any resource guarding or concerning behaviors around high value things. He is potty trained! Dogs/Cats Previously he has lived in a single dog home for his 6 years of existence, and is learning how to be a good house mate with other dogs. He currently thinks with his balls, and can be a bit rude with sniffing and humping, but has taken corrections from them and me with grace and is learning what is appropriate interactions with them. He has shown absolutely 0 aggression with the other dogs. He’s been around neutered males, intact males, spayed and intact females. Except for his boy dog desires, he is for the most part, relatively neutral about their existence as a whole. The home he's been staying in for the last 2 months has mentioned their dogs does not too well with him as intense as he can be for group activities, when worked up he circles and pesters, and does like to harass other dogs for their toys. But he isn't being aggressive with them- just rude. He has done well with cats, shows interest in livestock but hasn't caused any trouble, would not do well with free roaming pet rabbits. People He is pretty neutral with strangers. While in the yard if I have friends come over he pretty much ignores them. Doesn’t really care to interact with random folks that have nothing to offer him. He is sweet and likes scratches, pets, and affection, but hasnt been the kind of dog to come cuddle for long periods of time. Has not shown aggression nor any intent to bite. He has shown usual/normal dog uncomfortableness at the vet handling him, but did well. And he showed he was uncomfortable with a strange man coming into the house while he was crated with me not home. He did warm up to said person very fast with treats and a ball and he was able to handle him no problem. So seems to like usual dog aloofness and aversive to having strange folks around with me gone and being man handled. Nothing concerning. I have been told he was raised with kids, their friends coming in and out of the house and yard, ect has never been an issue is what I was told. Grooming He is a double coated breed and thus does shed. He does well with being brushed, bathed, and nails dremeled. Vetting He is up to date on vaccines. He is currently intact, his adoption ĒĒā„² will be the cost to have him neutered. He has a rear hind leg that trembles sometimes after hard exercise, vet says it’s an old injury that may have left the leg a bit weaker, however this does not stop him from doing anything and does not seem to hinder him at all. They recommend joint supplements for him. He is on a high calorie food as right now his metabolism is the speed of light lol a bit of a hard keeper, but not unusual for a high energy breed. Fecal came back clear~ Email me at onlystarwaffle@gmail.com If interested please reach out! Or at least give him a share, the more eyes on him the better opportunity for his people to see him šŸ™‚ He’s a pretty good dog that someone’s gonna love.
