Meet Maya The Squirmy Wormy, also known as: Maya, Miss Squirm, and the undisputed Queen of The Household. She currently weighs around 80 pounds, though she’s officially started her weight-loss journey and has a goal of 50 pounds! She got a little too much love in the form of treats & good eats in her previous home, but with how much she loves walks, running in the backyard, and being active, shedding the extra weight should be totally doable. As her name suggests, Maya is wonderfully squirmy and wiggly. She loves rolling around on the floor and will happily demand belly rubs like it’s her full-time job. She’s the perfect balance of playful and relaxed — always up for a walk or some backyard fun, but just as happy to settle in and be a couch potato afterward. Maya is potty trained and crate trained, and she knows commands like “sit” and “kennel” to head into her crate. She’s extremely smart — so smart, in fact, that she can open interior doors, including ones with round doorknobs. Because of this skill, when she is left home alone she should be crated. Toys are one of her favorite things, especially hard, durable toys that can stand up to her enthusiastic chewing. She also rides great in the car and would absolutely love going on road trips with her people. Maya does best as the only pet in the home. She tends to resource guard around other animals and prefers not to share her space, food, toys, or attention — very on brand for a dog who knows she’s royalty. For the same reason, she’s looking for a home without children under 12 years old. In the right environment, where she can be the center of attention, she truly shines.
