Meet Mikey! Mikey is a 3-year-old chug (Chihuahua–Pug mix) who has been with us for a few months, and he’s truly a special little guy. He’s a sweet and sensitive boy with a calm, gentle demeanor. Mikey is friendly with people, cats, and dogs, and he thrives best alongside calm, zen-like canine companions. He is fully house- and crate-trained, non-destructive, and very food motivated—making him a joy to work with. Mikey loves pushy toys, warm fuzzy blankets, and relaxing in the company of other like-minded dogs. When Mikey arrived, he was quite overweight at 17 pounds. Thanks to a quality diet and regular exercise, he has slimmed down to a healthy 13 pounds and is doing great! So an active daily walker would be ideal. Mikey is a very smart, happy, easy-going pup. He is food and play-motivated. Socially curious, happy, and sweet. Walks well on a leash. A fenced-in yard and a home with other pets alike would be best. Rescue (AHRS) 📍 **Apply at:** AdoptAHRescue.org This dog is friendly with **children, cats, rabbits, dogs, small-breed dogs, and senior pets**. --- ## ❤️ What’s Included With Adoption * Spayed/Neutered * Rabies vaccination (1- or 3-year option) * Core vaccinations including **Leptospirosis, Coronavirus & Lyme** * Negative heartworm test (if age appropriate) * Monthly heartworm, flea & tick prevention * Negative Lyme test * Dewormed with a negative fecal test * All medical testing completed within the last **6–12 months** * All age-appropriate medical needs addressed (bloodwork, dental checks, medications, etc.) * Lifetime microchip registration (free unlimited updates) * Veterinary records provided * Brand-new collar, leash & harness * Nutrition guidance with a recommendation for a high-quality, protein-rich diet and current food fed for transition. --- ## 🏡 Our Adoption Process * We are a **foster-based rescue** with access to a private location called *the Sanctuary*. * All dogs begin at the Sanctuary and transition into foster homes once ready. * Foster homes are located throughout the state — **applicants must be willing to travel** for meet & greets. * The adoption process (application review, meet & greets, and placement) can take **up to four weeks**. --- ## 📋 Adoption Requirements * Completed adoption application * Basic background check for all adults in the household * Photo ID and proof of address required * All household members (adults & children) must attend at least one meet & greet * Home check required (may occur same day as adoption) * Current pets must meet the dog — **compatibility is required** --- ## 💲 Fees * A processing/operation fee is due when scheduling meet & greets (covers background checks & travel costs) * Adoption fees are **non-negotiable** and listed on each pet’s profile * Minimum **tax-deductible donation adoption fee due upon adoption * Adoption fees help cover a portion of rescue operating costs *Not negotiable --- ## 🎓 Training Commitment Training is a lifelong journey.
