About Orville

Orville is a longhaired black and tan tweenie-sized Dachshund, about four years old, and he's looking for a home where he can soak up plenty of affection. He came to the rescue with a friend after being found loose but is now ready for his own family. Orville is happiest when he's with his person—snuggling on the couch is his favorite activity, and toys always put a smile on his face. He does like to talk, especially if he feels shut out or can't reach you through a gate, and he’s not shy about letting you know. Because of this, Orville would fit best in a house where neighbors won’t be bothered by the occasional barking—an apartment probably isn’t the right fit. He prefers having company and would love a human who’s home most of the time. Potty training isn’t quite there yet, but he’s used to using a doggie door at the rescue, and he’s smart, so he’ll pick things up with some patience. He’s not fond of kennels but will tolerate one when needed, and he doesn't mind wearing a belly band. Orville gets along well with dogs and is up to date on vaccinations and neutered. He really is ready for a fresh start. Only applicants able to complete an in-person home visit in Leavenworth, KS (or within an hour’s drive) will be considered for Orville. He wants to find a home with someone who appreciates his need for cuddles and a bit of conversation. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!
